Senior Conference in Budapest

Last weekend we had a Senior Missionary Conference.  There are seven senior couples in Hungary, and we enjoyed being with them last weekend.  It was great to see Elder and Sister Howell in country!!!
The first thing we did was visit the Museum of Terror, which teaches about the Nazi era, the Communist era, and teaches about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956.  Very sobering.

Then we had a meeting with President and Sister Szabadkai, our wonderful leaders.

In the evening we went to a real Magyar (Hungarian) folk performance.

The Parliament building is gorgeous at night!

It's not too shabby by day either.

This is a cool statue of a man on a horse next to the Parliament building.

This is a memorial to Jews who in 1944 were shot by the side of the Danube.  They would fall to the water afterward.  It was a bad time for the Jews.  The shoes on the edge look so real.

This is Szent Istvan Cathedral.  We climbed the stairs and went out by the dome.  You can see the entire city up there.

Up on the dome with the seniors.  You may recognize Elder and Sister Howell.

A Festival was going on in Budapest.

This is the first Subway station in Europe.  Sister Lund lived in our apartment in Kaposvar before we did.

This is a Viking cruise ship.  It must be an incredible cruise!

  1. Oh my. What an amazing conference. You were fed spiritually and then able to visit historical places and hear amazing, but sad history. What an experience you are having! Wow.
