Searching for Members
We were looking for a member of the church in this little village. This is one of the houses we tried. The woman who lives here had the same first name as the one we were searching for, but it wasn't her. She was very nice though.

Transfer Week
This is the last Sunday in Kaposvar for someone, but no one knows who. Transfers are announced on Tuesday. The ones leaving then pack and leave Wednesday. I am not looking forward to this day. We love our missionaries.
Elder Dietrich, Elder Fitzgerald, Sister Adams, Sister Gordon, Magdus, Sister Peterson, Elder Peterson.

Add Fernando on the left, Brigi's husband.

Add Brigi to the right of Magdus. Magdus is Fernando's mom. Brigi and Fernando's daughter, Evi, is on a mission in London.

Senior Conference in Budapest
Last weekend we had a Senior Missionary Conference. There are seven senior couples in Hungary, and we enjoyed being with them last weekend. It was great to see Elder and Sister Howell in country!!!
The first thing we did was visit the Museum of Terror, which teaches about the Nazi era, the Communist era, and teaches about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. Very sobering.

Then we had a meeting with President and Sister Szabadkai, our wonderful leaders.

In the evening we went to a real Magyar (Hungarian) folk performance.

The Parliament building is gorgeous at night!

It's not too shabby by day either.

This is a cool statue of a man on a horse next to the Parliament building.

This is a memorial to Jews who in 1944 were shot by the side of the Danube. They would fall to the water afterward. It was a bad time for the Jews. The shoes on the edge look so real.

This is Szent Istvan Cathedral. We climbed the stairs and went out by the dome. You can see the entire city up there.

Up on the dome with the seniors. You may recognize Elder and Sister Howell.

A Festival was going on in Budapest.

This is the first Subway station in Europe. Sister Lund lived in our apartment in Kaposvar before we did.

This is a Viking cruise ship. It must be an incredible cruise!

Gyulelekezetes (Branch Night) in Kaposvar
Every Friday is Branch Night, and this Friday the missionaries were in charge. They did a a well-illustrated lesson on the Plan of Salvation. It was also the birthday of Elder Dietrich. Yesterday was the birthday of Elder Fitzgerald, and the day before was the birthday of Elder Peterson. There should be some kind of prize for that coincidence!

A Unique Sight on the Road
On the way to Dunaujvaros to do apartment checks, Elder Peterson spotted this bird nest with a big bird in it (a stork?) and several little birds with little nests inside the big nest. An amazing sight.

This is a picture of some of the 10 stories in Dunaujvaros. A lot of people live in these.

This is a picture of an elevator in a 10 story. The reason we are posting it is because this is the elevator that we were stuck in for about 20 minutes. There were only four of us in the elevator, but the four of us together weighed more than the allowed weight. The elevator closed and wouldn't move. And it wouldn't open up. Eventually we were saved. Elder Peterson and I decided to take the stairs after this adventure. The missionaries live on the 9th floor, but enjoyed the climb. One of the missionaries had a bad knee, so they had to find another elevator.

Meet Erika!
Erika lives in Kaposvar and goes to the English class. She is in the advanced class because she speaks English very well! She has a hair salon in Kaposvar and is getting married in June. She surprised us last night after English class when she went outside to her bike. Erika is so tiny, and the bike looks so big next to her!
